Jiu Jitsu without Limits!!

Taking care of your mind is Jiu Jitsu: Jiu Jitsu without limits with Samuel Nascimento

NOVEMBER 29, 2013

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” Arnold Schwarzenegger

Training and competing in Jiu jitsu has never posed an obstacle for people with physical or mental disabilities as they’ve always been welcomed. The art taught by the father of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grand Master Carlos Gracie allows anyone, regardless of their physical or mental state to enjoy a shared passion for overcoming their limitations through jiu jitsu. Based on teachings of the creator and his father, our Master Carlos Gracie Jr. created the concept of ‘JIU JITSU FOR EVERYONE’ . So, we added thousands of people around the world to our family. What’s even more, we found in our students the essence that gave birth to the Gracie Barra legacy and its competitive spirit since 1986.

samuka-2A team of experts on the gentle art come from ordinary people who make it into true warriors, such as Samuel Nascimento ” Samuka “a third degree black belt of GB Florianópolis – SC. At 2 years and 8 months of age, the common curiosity of any child made Samuel put his two hands in a bread making machine, which resulted in a disabling injury.

“Fortunately, the gentle art is so efficient that it allows you to adapt it to your body . Never limit yourself and let anything keep you from achieving superiority over your former self. The will to overcome any obstacle must be greater than the obstacle itself . And you can be certain that the will is one of the main keys to your success. We must accept our limitations without discrediting our ability to overcome them. ”

Thanks to medical and surgical procedures Samuel re-gained partial use of his hands being able to perform daily activities. Years passed, he grew up and joined the faculty of economics, where he found the gateway to the world of the gentle art. “I found my passion for jiu jitsu when I was in college studying economy in Itajai. I shared an apartment in Balneario Camboriu, with a friend who was training and decided to try it out to see if it would fit me. I was instantly drawn.” Said the black belt

”The problem is more often than never in people’s heads.”

samuka_1-620x620Samuel was never a victim of prejudice, ” I’ve had more recognition, going by the motto: If I want, I can; if I want to, I will. I might do it my way, but I  will still do it.”Many people saw Samuka’s disability as a reason why he wouldn’t be able to win any titles. At 41 years of age,  our warrior is a two-time South American champion and Brazilian No-Gi vice champion of 2013, his personal victories giving a valuable lesson to everyone out there.” I believe that my determination, willpower and perseverance changed the way people perceived me as a disabled person or someone who uses his disability as an excuse. I know I am just as able as the rest and I am an example for perseverance.  The problem is more often than never in people’s heads. “

The story of this warrior serves as an example for many of the things we encounter in our lives. How many times did you stop training because you were faced with some big problem? How do you overcome these moments of weakness ? Here are some tips to help you out:

1 – Be bigger than your problems: Seek strength in your goal. If you want something strong enough, your desire to conquer the obstacles will help you realize your goal . Believe in yourself !

2 – Turn obstacles into steps to victory: “When you have a goal , that which was an obstacle becomes a stage on the route to your plan. ” (Gerard Erich Bohme )

3 – Success is a merit, not the end goal: Many people view success as their main objective; they understand it as becoming rich or famous. You need to understand that this is a daily and individual achievement ,”Speaking of success,  I’m not talking about fame or wealth. Success , for me , is to achieve what you desire.” (David Nivem)
